Challenge:
The Jacobs Cross cabbage (Jacobaea vulgaris) is a very common flower native to northern Eurasia. The flower contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids that are toxic to the liver, making it an undesirable plant for farmers who need to separate it from harvested kitchen herbs such as parsley. Current tests are identifying Jacobs Cross Cabbage in dried parsley and thistle samples using an MV.X VNIR hyperspectral Headwall system running the perClass Mira Runtime software on the processors built into the MV.X system.
