Vibration analysis: High-speed stereo DIC on a
helicopter blade

Case Description
A helicopter blade was vibrated by a vibrator with a sinusoidal sweep signal and imaged by 2 high speed iX cameras. For comparison purposes, accelerometers were attached simultaneously and Simcenter's SCADAS system was invoked to enforce perfect synchronization between the accelerometers and the recorded images.
An optimized DIC analysis was obtained using MatchID stereo correlation. Frequency response functions (FRFs) could then be extracted seamlessly via direct integration between Simcenter Testlab and MatchID. Finally, the corresponding operational deflection shapes were determined. An excellent agreement between the conventional sensor data and the DIC results was found.
